Should Social Media be part of your Marketing Campaign? YES!!!

Is social media really that big? Really that important?

For some time now I have been using the quote "EMAIL IS DEAD". OK well of course it is not really DEAD and obviously used about everyday by everybody in the US. But have you noticed you once communicated a lot by email and now do it through Facebook or Twitter? Somebody writes a quick message on your wall or sends a more important question with a private message? People are now using social media for search where just a few years ago it was Google, Google and Google.

So how does this relate to business? It is simple. If people stopped watching TV would you spend all your time focusing on a eye catching Super Bowl style commercial? NO! You have to focus on where people are looking. People are spending more time then ever using and monitoring social media. Here are a few statistics.

Time spent with social networking has surpassed time spent with e-mail. (Neilsen) Time spent on social networks and blogging sites is growing at over three times that of the overall Internet. (Neilsen) 7 out of 10 Americans consume content via the “stream” or news-feed style communications (Pew Internet)

Having a strong social media marketing campaign is more important than ever. We understand this with the creation of the marketing tools Social Menu and Social Sell. I am really surprised that a lot of companies do not yet have a Facebook Fan Page. It is really simple to set up and FREE. How could this not fit in your marketing budget? Even if your company does not have time and needs to pay an expert team like Proven Commerce, it is very inexpensive relative to the benefits. Other companies are building brand loyalty with interaction using tools like a Fan Page. ~Mikey Moran Social Media Marketing Consultant

Social media is indeed a great tool for a lot of companies, but I think it's important to note that participation is really the key. It's easy for a company to simply set up a fan page, but the true winners are the companies who remain active in those web spaces and really encourage a continuous feedback loop with their customers. I think it almost looks worse for a company to have a dead landing page than to not participate at all. In this web 2.0 era, it's so important for companies to use these tools and platforms to create VALUE for their brands... not just be there for the sake of being there.

Not for a niche business like the moving industry, people are using search engine results to find the company for that. I know people only use social media for things like beauty, dating, phones, apps, if its something thats used on a more personal social daily level they will use facebook.
