Speaking at Georgia State

Entrepreneurship and Relationships

A few weeks back I was honored when asked to speak at an upcoming Networking & Entrepreneurship workshop at Georgia State University.

With the topic being how relationships coincide with entrepreneurship I really didn’t even have to prepare. For me, this was going to be an easy one. It is something I did not understand when in my early twenties or even when I started my first business a decade ago. Today, I live it and breathe it.

Over the years I have realized most of the fantastic opportunities or “connections” were made because of a relationship I had made. You will hear successful entrepreneurs always talk about the importance of surrounding yourself with the right people. It’s the TRUTH!

The amazing part about the speech was all the young entrepreneurs in the audience on a Tuesday night. That shows me they are a group looking for success while most of their classmates were probably at the movies or just letting the day go by. I was impressed and very thankful for the opportunity. When someone asks you to do public speaking it is one of the greatest compliments for your knowledge and experiences.

What was one of my biggest relationship building power moves in my journey? I took a 24-hour flight to Bangkok to shake someone’s hand and say “I want to do business with you.”
